Trenčín

Slovakia

Trenčín is a curious town located in the north-west of Slovakia, close to Czech borders, and it inhabits about 55 000 lovely citizens

We are known for the many times awarded and the biggest Slovak music festival Pohoda that originated in our proud town. We are also known because of some great underground music and independent artistic scene.

The river Váh divides the city into two parts, forest park Brezina is the heart of the city and the castle overlooks it all.

ECOC

Trenčín was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture 2026 with the slogan Cultivating Curiosity.

Their power is curiosity, so no surprise that they called their work Cultivating Curiosity. It is about shifting grounds, new ways of learning, seeing things from different perspectives, developing a natural ability to observe, discover and learn. Curiosity needs to be cultivated, nurtured, and encouraged by culture, inspired by environments and education, so it can grow and flourish.
